It's been another tough year for choosing the final 40. We say it every year but if you've seen Harpal Mudhar or James Birt play, you'll know what we mean when we say the standard of the enrties is very high. Ok so without further delay here's the final 40. Well done to all who've made it this far. The final 10 will be announced early next week.

The final 40 will be announced here sometime during the next 24 hours - watch this space!

There's going to be another postal strike next week and who knows possibly the week after. This will severely restrict your ability to get your video entries to us on time if you send them any later than this week. We have therefore extended the closing date for entries by two weeks to Monday 12th of November.

You will also be able to drop in your entry to our stand at Drummer Live in London and Music Live in Birmingham.

We are also looking at ways of receiving entries by courier (our PO BOX does not accept courier deliveries). Watch this space for further announcements.

Welcome to the 6th UK National Young Drummer of the Year Competition. For the fourth year running the competition is sponsored by the famous British fashion designer; Peter Werth. Once again we will be staging the finals at The Royal Spa Centre in Leamington Spa. Building on the overwhelming success of last year's event, will ensure a very exciting day for the finals on February 3rd 2008.

The one major change in this years competition is that there will be 10 finalists this year and not 12 as in previous years. Every year we do a lessons learnt exercise and again last year it was felt that the schedule for 12 finalists was too tight especially for the judges.

Some initial points to note:

  • We will be accepting entries up to November 1st 2007
  • We can accept entries on a VHS video, DV Tape or on a DVD
  • The final 40 and then the final 10 will be announced here in the weeks following the closing date
  • You are very strongly urged to read the FAQ's page as we can only answer queries which are not covered in the FAQ's page
  • Seating at this year's finals will be on a ticketed seat number basis.
  • Keep an eye on this page for updates.

A full review of the 2007 finals can be viewed here.
