We're delighted to announce the final 10 for the 2009 Young Drummer of the Year competition. Year on year we see the standard of these young players reach new heights, but this year has seen a huge jump in the talent displayed by the 10 finalists. The judges remarked on how difficult their decision was this year, commenting that they could have easily put 15 of the final 40 in the finals. However there's only room for ten and after a long deliberation they decided on the names below. We will be staging the finals at the Oakengates Theatre, Telford, Shropshire on Feb 8th 2009. More info on the finals coming soon.

Welcome to the 7th UK National Young Drummer of the Year Competition. This year we will be staging the finals at the Oakengates Theatre, Telford, Shropshire, which comes as a result of new funding for the event from Telford Culture Zone. Building on the overwhelming success of last year's event, we will ensure a very exciting day for the finals on February 8th 2009 at this wonderful new venue.

We will be bringing you more information about the new sponsors, as well the the additional supporters of the event; Foretel and Telford & Wrekin Music. This new funding will help us stage an even bigger and better event than before and help us with the ever increasing administration and marketing costs for this national competition.

Some initial points to note:

We will be accepting entries up to November 10th 2008
We can accept entries on a VHS video, DV Tape or on a DVD
The final 40 and then the final 10 will be announced here in the weeks following the closing date
You are very strongly urged to read the FAQ's page as we can only answer queries which are not covered in the FAQ's
